A Warm Welcome!

A Warm Welcome!

A Warm Welcome to CBT4T Online!

Everyone coming to CBT4T (the CBT for Tinnitus E-Programme) comes with their own story and background, and as we all know, we are all different! We have different strengths, different abilities, different characteristics and different expectations!

CBT4T is used by a wide range of people. They are singles, parents, grandparents, all ages from early 20s to in their 80s (most are 35-50). They are employed, self-employed, retired, between jobs, students in FE, graduate, post-graduate, doctoral… They are trainers, coaches, shop workers, journalists, musicians, drivers, admin, secretaries, factory workers, teachers, lecturers, professors, doctors, consultants, GPs, nurses, physiotherapists, counsellors, psychologists… They work in sales, marketing, finance, accounts, insurance, banking, commerce at all levels… They are military and ex-military veterans… They are emergency services workers - police, fire and ambulance… I won’t have thought of every role past users of the course have had I know, and to date, there has just been the one airline pilot! He won’t mind me saying, this is Kirk in the reviews!

CBT4T: Accessible, Interesting and Affordable

CBT4T participants have a wide range of interests and experience, so it's important the course is accessible by being affordable, hence the COST IS AROUND ONE TENTH OF THE EQUIVALENT THERAPY HOURS INPUT (around 30 hours). The content and practices must be understandable and interesting for all too.

There has to be in-built flexibility, allowing for each individual to use the process at a pace that fits their needs (what they require clinically) and responsibilities (family, work etc). This means taking as long as you need, while MAINTAINING MOTIVATION. Feedback I have consistently been receiving is that people's motivation is greatly helped through being accountable via the weekly SITREP.

Other significant feedback includes there being "a real person" to interact with, as well as experiencing a GENUINE DIFFERENCE IN HOW THEY ARE FEELING relatively quickly, CERTAINLY WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. I meet with CBT4T Participants for the first time once they complete Stage 4, and by then, they are very different to how patients were when I met them for an Assessment (before they started doing any therapy), as I did for 27 years! See why this is

However different our lives may be....

.... What we DO have in common is a marvellous functioning brain that steers us through all our experiences in life.

We each shape how our brain functions through our behaviours and cognitions, and the "PLASTICITY" of the brain enables us to keep on repeating what is helpful and good for us.

However, if we allow it to happen - and we all do at times - brain plasticity enables us to keep on repeating what isn't helpful and good for us too!

Thankfully, brain plasticity also enables us to CHANGE unhelpful behaviours and cognitions.
