How can knowing more about the course help you support others?
The Department of Health clearly expect Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to be the treatment of choice for people with tinnitus distress. Unfortunately, those with the necessary qualifications, knowledge and skills are not in the workforce; the few that are have extremely long waiting lists!
To have developed the process in the CBT for Tinnitus E-Programme is built on 30 years of clinical practice including hundreds of hours of additional psychotherapy education, training and clinical supervision. Starting out as a Hearing Therapist qualified in 1994, I completed a PG Dip in Psychotherapy in 2005 and then an MSc in Psychotherapy by 2012.
As an Advisor, trained in how to help people looking for help with their tinnitus, the CBT for Tinnitus E-Programme is something you can inform your callers about, being better informed about it yourself.
The CBT for Tinnitus E-Programme has been partnered with the British Tinnitus Association since January 2020 and many people coming to the course have been referred by the BTA. There is also an increasing number of referrals coming from Audiologists - both NHS and private practitioners. The cost is not prohibitive for most - £225 with two 1-1 appointments using Zoom plus support via email, logs, checks and electronic CBT tools, many of which are of my own design, purpose-built for the course. There is even a discount offered to BTA members and supporters, as well earning a 5% donation to the British Tinnitus Association.
This information pack for Advisors is to provide insight in to what the course involves, not just to say how effective it is.
