Stage 2 and how to pace your progress
Welcome to Stage 2 (of 12 stages) - well done having completed your first stage of this process.
Each of your remaining 11 stages are automated to open one week apart. However, please do NOT feel compelled to complete each stage in a week. The intent of setting the stages to open one week after the other is to indicate that AT LEAST one week needs to be spent at each stage.
This is a 12 stage PROCESS and the process needs to fit YOUR needs - it is not possible for you - or everyone else undertaking CBT for tinnitus - to fit the process.
What is important is that you take your own time according to your own needs and circumstances.
There is a fairly broad range for the average time it takes people to complete the 12 stage process: from around 18-28 weeks, largely dependant upon where they started from.
As a rule of thumb, the vast majority of people undertaking the programme tend to work the first 3 to 4 stages weekly. Some prefer (and need) to spend 10-14 days at each stage even from the beginning.
Once you reach stage 5, however, you will benefit from spending 10-14 days at each stage. This is due to the neuro-physiological changes (in the brain and body) you are bringing about - this is explained in more detail as you progress through the stages, and fundamentally, is about "brain plasticity".
