Module 4 onwards

Module 4 has always been a particularly pivotal week!

It is where you start to really get in to to the "Cognitive Behavioural Therapy" training. You'll learn to use the Meaning Adjuster - the main reframing tool used in the CBT for Tinnitus E-Programme

You learn about "Cognitive Distortions" in Module 4 too, and now you have the opportunity to see what yours have been doing and how they have been making you feel. You'll see how you have a tendency to use the same 3 or 4 cognitive distortions over and over again. We all do - until we realise it, and then, we have the opportunity to change all that.

Modules 5 and 6

Continuing to use the reframing tool (Meaning Adjuster) alongside "little and often, regular and consistent" breath work and relaxation, Module 5 includes videos presented by neuroscientists Dr Josef Rauschecker and Dr Will Sedley researching in the field of tinnitus.

There is also a paper in Module 5 called "Taming Tinnitus" that was written by Laurence McKenna (if you haven't heard of him, he is a fabulous Clinical Psychologist who specialises in tinnitus management) and colleagues. I include this short paper because it's a useful "check-list" for lots of "Do's and Don'ts" about tinnitus.

You also have the fourth and final guided relaxation recording in Module 5 (there is a different one in each of Modules 2, 3, 4 and 5) and each of them lasts around 30 minutes.

Brain plasticity is discussed in Module 6 - also from the field of neuroscience.

Between Module 6 and the last section "Finalising the Process" is about consolidating what you have learned during the 6 modules, using what helps you the most (the breath work, relaxation and Meaning Adjuster where it's still needed) and to allow everything to sink in and begin enjoying how differently you feel.

We will have continued to keep in touch throughout the course. At the very least, at the end of each of the Modules, there is a Progress Check you send in letting me know how you are.

For the majority of you, you are pretty much finished! Any time after week 10 - I recommend it after week 10 based on experience - you repeat the measures you completed at the start. Once you have sent them, I will get back to you by email with your Clinical Outcomes (the difference between your initial TFI score and your final one, as well as the THI and GAD-7).

I also ask that you complete an online review/evaluation of the Tinnitus E-Programme.
