What IS the point of using clinical measures?

Clinical Measures are a part of an Assessment needed to inform your Consultation with Debbie Featherstone. Only validated clinical measures are used. VALIDATION = evidenced through peer-reviewed published research to have validity as a clinical measure.

Part of the research-based clinical validation is a measure's capability to evidence CHANGE OVER TIME. This is how the clinical measures are used by Debbie Featherstone, in the CBT4T programme and when working with Debbie on an individual basis.

The true VALUE is only seen when the measures are repeated at set intervals throughout the process of a clinical intervention: the bare minimum is when the measure is used at the START and repeated at the END of an intervention.

For example, in the CBT4T process, the clinical measures are completed:

  • at the start of CBT4T (the intervention)

  • at the end of Stage 4

  • at the end of Stage 6

  • at the end of the process (Stage 8)
